The white oat cultivar FAEM Chiarasul was developed from a cross between UFRGS 17 and UFGS 10/ Coronado2/Cortez3/Pendek/ME 1563. It is characterized by reduced plant height, and high yield, grain quality and grain-processing quality.

A cultivar de aveia branca Brisasul foi desenvolvida pelo Centro de Genômica e Fitomelhoramento da Faculdade de Agronomi 'Eliseu Maciel', Universidade Federal de Pelotas, sendo resultado do cruzamento entre OR 2 e UPF 18. Caracteriza-se pelo elevado rendimento de grãos, porte reduzido e elevada resistência ao acamamento.

The white oat cultivar Brisasul was developed from the cross OR 2 x UPF 18 at the Centro de Genômica e Fitomelhoramento, Faculdade de Agronomia `Eliseu Maciel', Universidade Federal de Pelotas. The most important traits are high yield, low stature and high lodging resistance.

O ganho genético obtido com a seleção em gerações segregantes é dependente do cruzamento, das condições experimentais e do caráter alvo de seleção. O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar o ganho com a seleção em planta espaçada, na geração F2 para número de afilhos, utilizando diferentes critérios de seleção, além de verificar a efetividade destas seleções na geração subseqüente, nos métodos de semeadura deplanta espaçada e linha cheia. As gerações segregantes foram desenvolvidos em 2006 (F2) e 2007 (F2 e F3), sendo a geração F3 avaliada em planta espaçada e linha cheia. Foram empregados três critérios de seleção: a) elevado número de afilhos e alta produção de grãos; b) reduzido número de afilhos com elevada produção de grãos e c) bulk da população. Foram testadas 15 combinações envolvendo genitores com diferente potencial de afilhamento. Os resultados indicam que mesmo em reduzida magnitude, as estimativas de herdabilidade para estimar a média da próxima geração, revelaram eficiência, porém, somente quando as gerações utilizadas foram desenvolvidas em iguais condições de ambiente e manejo. A seleção para elevado ou reduzido número de afilhos e em bulk, foram dependentes do sistema de manejo em que a população segregante tenha sido submetida. A seleção para elevado número de afilhos revelou o maior ganho genético para produção de grãos, porém, a efetividade da seleção em planta espaçada não proporcionou o mesmo comportamento em competição. O melhor desempenho em rendimento de grãos foi detectado na seleção para reduzido número de afilhos, com média elevada para massa de grãos em competição.

The genetic gain obtained with the selection in segregating generations depends on the cross, experimental conditions and the target trait selected. The objective of this work was to determine the genetic gain with selection in spaced plants, in the F2 generation for the character number of tillers, using different selection criteria. In addition it aimed at to verify the effectiveness of these selections by looking at next generations of plants selected by the spaced plant and full row methods. The segregating generations were conducted in the years 2006 (F2) and 2007 (F2 and F3), being the F3 generation evaluated as spaced plant and full row. Three selection criteria were used: i) high tiller number and grain production; ii) low tiller number with high grain production and iii) a bulk of 15 parental genotypes with different tillering potential. The results pointed out that heritability estimates were efficient for the prediction of next generation means when the generations used were under the same environmental and management conditions. The efficiency of the selection for high or low tillering ability and the bulk selection were dependent of the crop management system used. The selection for high tiller number was associated to a higher genetic gain for grain production. However, the efficiency of the selection was different when spaced and competing plants are compared. The best performance for grain yield was achieved selecting for low tiller number in competing plants, resulted in higher total grain weight.

O melhoramento genético para a qualidade industrial do trigo pode representar uma oportunidade de agregar valor de mercado aos produtos agrícolas, sendo o trigo um dos cereais com maior associação entre a qualidade intrínseca e a remuneração ao agricultor. O objetivo do trabalho foi o de determinar a variabilidade genética a partir de caracteres indicativos da qualidade industrial e o rendimento de grãos, e estimar o grau de associação entre estes caracteres em 22 genótipos de trigo. O experimento foi desenvolvido em área experimental pertencente à Universidade Federal de Pelotas, Capão do Leão (RS). Os resultados indicaram a provável existência de variabilidade genética para os caracteres em estudo, a qual pode auxiliar pesquisadores na escolha de genitores. Cruzamentos artificiais envolvendo os genótipos BRS 208, Rubi e Safira podem ser os mais promissores no intuito de incrementar o ganho genético, tanto para a qualidade industrial quanto para a produtividade de grãos. O rendimento de grãos manifestou correlação negativa com o conteúdo de proteína da farinha revelando que a superioridade genotípica para o rendimento de grãos pode afetar negativamente a proporção protéica. Entretanto, o conteúdo de proteína não evidenciou associação significativa com a força de glúten (indicador da qualidade industrial), revelando que a concentração de proteína da farinha não foi eficiente para predizer a qualidade industrial. Este resultado sugere a possibilidade de obtenção de genótipos superiores para o rendimento de grãos sem comprometer a qualidade industrial.

The breeding for wheat bread making quality represents a great opportunity to incorporate commercial value to agricultural products. Wheat has one of the best relationship between end product quality and farmer earnings. Genetic variability among 22 different genotypes based on bread making quality traits and grain yield and the degree of their association was assessed. This research was performed at Centro Agropecuário da Palma experimental field of Universidade Federal de Pelotas, Capão do Leão (RS), Brazil. The results indicated that it is likely the existence of genetic variability for the assessed traits. BRS 208, Rubi and Safira were the best genotypes for breeding programs aiming at high grain yield and bread making quality. Grain yield showed negative correlation with flour protein content. Thus, grain yield improvement can negatively affect protein content. However, the total protein content did not show a significant correlation with gluten strength, suggesting that the protein in the flour is not efficient for predicting bread making quality. Therefore, selection for grain yield can be performed without affecting bread making quality.

Product-line architectures (PLAs) are an effective mechanism for facilitating the reuse of software components on different mobile devices. Mobile applications are typically delivered to devices using over-the-air provisioning services that allow a mobile phone to download and install software over a cellular network connection. Current techniques for automating product-line variant selection do not address the unique requirements (such as the need to consider resource constraints) of dynamically selecting a variant for over-the-air provisioning. This paper presents the following contributions to product-line variant selection for mobile devices: (1) it describes how a constraint solver can be used to dynamically select a product-line variant while adhering to resource constraints, (2) it presents architectures for automatically discovering device capabilities and mapping them to product-line feature models, (3) it includes results from experiments and field tests with an automated variant selector, and (4) it describes PLA design rules that can be used to increase the performance of automated constraint-based variant selection. Our empirical results show that fast automated variant selection from a feature model is possible if certain product-line design guidelines are followed.

O caráter stay-green é um dos fatores que poderá auxiliar o melhorista na obtenção de plantas mais produtivas, devido à permanência verde por um período mais prolongado favorecendo o enchimento de grãos. Desta forma, o objetivo do trabalho foi o de avaliar o desempenho de diferentes constituições genéticas de trigo com e sem a presença do caráter stay-green e verificar se a expressão de alelos que intensificam a coloração verde por um período mais prolongado, os quais auxiliam no incremento da produtividade de grãos. O trabalho foi desenvolvido em campo experimental com delineamento de blocos casualizados com três repetições, em dois anos de cultivo. A presença de constituições genéticas superiores facilita os benefícios expressos pelo caráter stay-green na produtividade de grãos. O caráter stay-green proporciona estabilidade na produtividade de grãos sob efeito de diferentes ambientes.

The stay-green trait is one of the factors that can aid the breeder in obtaining higher yielding plants due to a delay in leaf senescence, favouring grain filling. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of different wheat lines with and without the stay-green trait and investigate if longer green period; foster an increment of grain yield. The field experiment was conducted in randomized complete block design with three replications in two crop years. Genetically superior lines facilitate the benefits of the stay-green trait for grain yield. The stay-green trait promotes yield stability under different environments.

A seleção indireta através de caracteres com maior herdabilidade e de fácil mensuração, poderá resultar num elevado progresso genético em relação ao uso de seleção direta. Este trabalho foi conduzido com o objetivo de: (1) estimar as correlações fenotípicas entre rendimento de grãos de plantas individuais e caracteres agronômicos de interesse na seleção de genótipos de aveia branca; (2) identificar os caracteres que evidenciam os maiores efeitos diretos e indiretos sobre o rendimento de grãos; (3) determinar a intensidade de associação entre componentes primários e secundários do rendimento de grãos; e, (4) avaliar a consistência dessas estimativas utilizando cinco genótipos de aveia utilizando-se o esquema de cruzamentos dialélicos. O número de panículas por planta (NPP) evidencia ser o caráter mais correlacionado com o rendimento de grãos (RG) de plantas individuais, tanto por meio das correlações simples como via efeitos diretos sobre o rendimento de grãos; Para peso médio de grãos (PMG) <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> RG, na maioria dos cruzamentos à ausência de associação, podendo revelar dificuldades aos melhoristas, à medida que grãos maiores não estão associados a rendimento superior, exceto para os cruzamentos UPF16 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UFRGS17 e UFRGS17 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> URPel95/015. O caráter número de grãos por panícula (NGP) está diretamente correlacionado com RG em todos os cruzamentos, porém, as estimativas dos efeitos diretos sobre RG foram negativas para os cruzamentos UPF16 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UPF18, UPF16 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> URPel95/015, UPF18 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UFRGS17, indicando que as correlações não são as principais causas de alteração no RG, o que pode ser explicado, no presente trabalho, pelos efeitos indiretos via NPP e principalmente via peso de panícula (PP).

Indirect selection through traits of higher heritability and of case measurements can result in larger genetic progress compared to using direct selection. This work was performed with the following objectives: (1) to estimative the phenotypic correlations between individual plant grain yield and agronomic traits of importance in the selection of white oat (Avena sativa L.) genotypes; (2) to identify traits that have the higher direct and indirect effects on grain yield; (3) to determine the intensity of association between primary and secondary components of grain yield; and, (4) to evaluate the consistency of these estimates using five oat genotypes crossed in a diallel format. The number of panicles per plant (NPP) showed to be the trait highest correlated with individual plant grain yield (GY) both through single correlations and through direct effects on grain yields. For weight of a thousand grains (WTG) <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> GY, in most crosses there was no detected association, leading to possible troubles for breeders, since larger grains were not associated to higher yield, except for the crosses UPF16 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UFRGS17 and UFRGS17 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> URPel95/015. The trait number of grains per plant (NGP) was directly correlated with GY in all crosses, although the direct effects estimates on GY were negative for the crosses UPF16 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UPF18, UPF16 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> URPel95/015, UPF18 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UFRGS17 and UFRGS7 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> URPel95/015, indicating that correlations are not the main causes altering GY, which could be explained, in the present work, by indirect effects via NPP and mainly via panicle weight (PW).

A ferrugem da folha da aveia é a moléstia mais importante que ataca a cultura da aveia, ocorrendo em praticamente todas as áreas em que a aveia é cultivada. A forma mais indicada para o seu controle é a utilização de cultivares resistentes. Contudo, para que seja alcançada a resistência durável ao patógeno, é necessário que se conheça a genética da resistência à ferrugem da folha em aveia. O objetivo foi determinar a forma de herança da resistência a três isolados de Puccinia coronata f. sp. avenae Fraser & Led., (coletados no sul do Brasil) em genótipos brasileiros de aveia branca. Para a determinação da herança da resistência a cada um dos três isolados, foram utilizadas populações F2 geradas por meio de cruzamentos artificiais, entre genótipos resistentes (R) e suscetíveis (S) e entre genótipos resistentes (R). Desta forma, foram utilizadas populações F2 dos cruzamentos artificiais entre: i) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S), UPF 16 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) e URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 16 (R), para a determinação da herança da resistência ao isolado um (1); ii) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S), UPF 18 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) e URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 18 (R), para a determinação da herança da resistência ao isolado dois (2); iii) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) e URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 18 (S), para a determinação da herança da resistência ao isolado três (3). Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram que o genótipo URPEL 15 apresenta genes dominantes de resistência aos três isolados de ferrugem da folha da aveia avaliados, que o cultivar UPF 16 apresenta um gene recessivo de resistência ao isolado 1 e o cultivar UPF 18 apresenta um gene recessivo de resistência ao isolado 2. E que os genes de resistência apresentados pelos genótipos URPEL 15, UPF 16 e UPF 18, segregam de forma independente.

Oat crown rust is the most important disease for the oat crop, occurring in practically all the areas where oat is cultivated. The most indicated form of control for this disease is the use of resistant cultivars. However, for the durable resistance to be acquired, it is necessary to know the genetics of resistance to crown rust in oats. Thus, the objective of this work was to determine the type of inheritance of resistance to three Puccinia coronata f. sp. avenae Fraser & Led., isolates (collected in southern Brazil) in brazilian white oat genotypes. To determine the inheritance of resistance to each one of three isolates,F2 populations were used generated through artificial crosses, between resistant (R) and susceptible (S) and between resistant genotypes (R). Thus, F2 populations from the following artificial crosses: i) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S), UPF 16 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) and URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 16 (R), were used to determine the inheritance of resistance to isolate one (1); ii) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S), UPF 18 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) and URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 18 (R), to determine the inheritance of resistance to isolate two (2); iii) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) and URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 18 (S), to determine the inheritance of resistance to isolate three (3). The obtained results indicate that the genotype URPEL 15 present dominants genes for resistance to the three oat leaf rust isolates evaluated, the cultivar UPF 16 presents a recessive gene for resistance to isolate 1 and the cultivar UPF 18 has a recessive gene of resistence to isolate 2. Also, the resistance genes presented by genotypes URPEL 15, UPF 16 and UPF 18, segregate in an independent manner.

Vários trabalhos têm sido desenvolvidos buscando uma maior eficiência de seleção de plantas em gerações com alta freqüência de heterozigotos. Comparou-se a resposta da seleção direta para rendimento de grãos, seleção indireta baseada no peso médio de grãos e seleção combinada de plantas de plantas em aveia (Avena sativa L.) para superior potencial produtivo e peso médio de grãos, utilizando o método colméia. As estratégias foram aplicadas nas safras agrícolas de 2001 e 2002 em populações F3 e F4, respectivamente, nos cruzamentos UPF 18 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> TC 5, OR 2 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UPF 7 e OR 2 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UPF 18. As dez melhores combinações genéticas obtidas para cada cruzamento e estratégia de seleção foram avaliadas em ensaios de rendimento de grãos na safra agrícola de 2003. A seleção de plantas de maior rendimento de grãos e peso médio de grãos pode ser feita ainda em gerações com alto nível de heterozigose. A seleção direta para rendimento de grãos e a indireta com base no peso médio de grãos possibilitaram elevar a média dos caracteres sob seleção, entretanto, os genótipos obtidos pela primeira estratégia apresentaram baixo peso médio de grãos enquanto àqueles obtidos pela segunda apresentaram baixo potencial produtivo. A seleção deve ser conduzida de forma simultânea, buscando-se maximizar em um só genótipo elevado potencial de rendimento de grãos e peso de grãos, possibilitando a obtenção de máximo progresso genético para ambos os caracteres.

Several studies have searched for higher efficiency on plant selection in generations bearing high frequency of heterozygotes. This work aims to compare the response of direct selection for grain yield, indirect selection through average grain weight and combined selection for higher yield potential and average grain weight of oat plants (Avena sativa L.), using the honeycomb breeding method. These strategies were applied in the growing seasons of 2001 and 2002 in F3 and F4 populations, respectively, in the crosses UPF 18 CTC 5, OR 2 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UPF 7 and OR 2 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> UPF 18. The ten best genetic combinations obtained for each cross and selection strategy were evaluated in greenhouse yield trials. Selection of plants with higher yield and average grain weight might be performed on early generations with high levels of heterozygosis. The direct selection for grain yield and indirect selection for average grain weight enabled to increase the average of characters under selection. However, genotypes obtained through direct selection presented lower average grain weight and those obtained through the indirect selection presented lower yield potential. Selection strategies must be run simultaneously to combine in only one genotype high yield potential and large grain weight, enabling maximum genetic gain for both characters.

A correlação genotípica permite avaliar a magnitude e a direção da associação entre caracteres, sendo de grande utilidade por permitir a viabilidade do emprego da seleção indireta, que em alguns casos, pode levar a progressos genéticos mais rápidos e altamente expressivos em programas de melhoramento de aveia (Avena sativa L.). O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a viabilidade da implementação de uma modificação na fórmula de PETR & FREY (1966), para a obtenção de estimativas de correlação genotípica, fenotípica e de ambiente, através da análise de quatro populações segregantes F2 de aveia: OR 2 x UPF 18, UPF 7 x CTC 5, OR 2 x UPF 7, UPF 18 x CTC 5. As estimativas de correlação genotípica indicam que a seleção de plantas de alta produtividade de grãos pode ser realizada indiretamente através dos caracteres número de panículas por planta, peso de panícula, número de grãos por panícula e peso médio de grãos. Entretanto, as diferenças em magnitude e direção das estimativas de correlações, entre os vários pares de caracteres, nas quatro populações estudadas, não permitem a generalização de uma estratégia de seleção, isto devido as limitações impostas pelas diferenças entre as constituições genéticas dos genitores e populações. Desta forma, é de fundamental importância a avaliação da capacidade combinatória das principais constituições genéticas utilizadas em cruzamentos artificiais, a fim de se estabelecer critérios mais efetivos a serem empregados na seleção de genótipos superiores.

The use of genotypic correlation helps evaluating the magnitude and direction of associations between characters facilitating the application of indirect selection, leading to faster and larger genetic gains in oat (Avena sativa L.) breeding programs. This study aimed to test a modification of PETR & FREYS’ (1996) formula, to obtain genotypic, phenotypic and environmental correlation estimates through the analyses of four F2 oat segregant populations: OR 2 x UPF 18, UPF 7 x CTC 5, OR 2 x UPF 7 and UPF 18 x CTC 5. The estimates of genetic correlations indicated that plants of superior grain productivity could be selected indirectly through the characters: number of panicles per plant, panicle weight, number of grains per panicle and average grain weight. However, the opposite direction and the difference of magnitude of correlation estimates between many pairs of characters on the four studied populations did not allow any generalization of selection strategies. This is probably due to the imposed limitations caused by the differences on the genetic background of parents and populations. In this way, it is advisable to test the combining ability of major genotypes used in artificial crossings in Brazil, to establish more effective criteria for superior genotype selection.

A estimativa da divergência genética entre cultivares pode ser útil em um programa de melhoramento para o direcionamento de hibridações e o conhecimento do germoplasma disponível. O objetivo do trabalho foi estimar a dissimilaridade genética entre genótipos de aveia (Avena sativa), por meio de marcadores AFLP e do coeficiente de parentesco, e correlacionar essas estimativas entre si e com a estimativa da dissimilaridade genética a partir de caracteres agronômicos em experimentos com e sem a aplicação de fungicida. Onze cultivares de aveia foram utilizadas na estimativa da distância genética a partir de marcadores AFLP. Desses 11 genótipos, nove foram avaliados no campo em experimento com e sem fungicida, para a estimativa da divergência genética a partir de caracteres morfológicos. Para a estimativa dos coeficientes de parentesco foram utilizados oito, dentre nove genótipos coincidentes entre as avaliações dos caracteres agronômicos e molecular, que possuem genealogia conhecida. Posteriormente, efetuou-se a comparação entre as matrizes por meio da estimativa da correlação entre elas. Dentre as medidas de dissimilaridade avaliadas, as distâncias estimadas com base na utilização de dados moleculares e a técnica de coeficiente de parentesco foram as que evidenciaram a maior correlação (0,45), sendo significativa, porém não elevada. A segunda maior correlação observada ocorreu entre as distâncias fenotípicas em experimentos com e sem a aplicação de fungicida (0,44); não se observaram correlações significativas em todas as demais medidas de divergência. Dessa forma, fica evidente a presença de elevada variabilidade genética entre os genótipos estudados e a necessidade da utilização conjunta das três técnicas para a obtenção de uma estimativa mais fiel da divergência genética.

Estimatives of genetic dissimilarity between cultivars can be useful in a breeding program for directing crosses and evaluating the available germplasm. The objective of this work was to estimate the genetic dissimilarity between oat genotypes through AFLP markers and inbreeding coefficient and to intercorrelate these estimate with each other and with an estimate based on agronomical traits in experiments with and without fungicide application. Eleven oat cultivars were used to estimate the molecular genetic distance, from which nine were evaluated in the field to obtain the morphological estimatives. For the estimates of inbreeding coefficients, eight genotypes had known pedigree and were considered for the analyisis. A comparison of the matrices was obtained through a correlation analysis. Among the dissimilarity measures evaluated, the estimated distances based on molecular data and the inbreeding coefficient, were those evidencing the highest correlation (0.45). The second highest correlation was obtained between the morphological distances in experiments with and without fungicide application (0.44), no other correlation obtained was significant. Then, it is evident the presence of high genetic variability among the studied genotypes and the necessity of all three techniques to be used in a joined manner for obtaining a more precise estimate of genetic dissimilarity.

This paper makes three contributions to research on QoS-enabled middleware for open distributed real-time embedded (DRE) systems. First, it describes the design and implementation of a dynamic scheduling framework based on the OMG Real-Time CORBA 1.2 specification (RTC1.2) that provides capabilities for (1) propagating QoS parameters and a locus of execution across endsystems via a distributable thread abstraction and (2) enforcing the scheduling of multiple distributable threads dynamically using standard CORBA middleware. Second, it examines the results of empirical studies that show how adaptive dynamic scheduling and management of distributable threads can be enforced efficiently in standard middleware for open DRE systems. Third, it presents results from case studies of multiple adaptive middleware QoS management technologies to monitor and control the quality, timeliness, and criticality of key operations adaptively in a representative DRE avionics system.

Medidas de dissimilaridade são artifícios que os melhoristas de plantas dispõem para identificarem genótipos distantes na obtenção de populações segregantes desejadas. Assim, o presente trabalho foi realizado para estabelecer relação entre as diferentes técnicas multivariadas utilizadas em estimativas de divergência genética. O experimento foi desenvolvido no ano agrícola de 2001, quando doze cultivares de aveia foram testados para sete caracteres agronômicos, utilizando-se o delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. As distâncias Euclidiana e de Mahalanobis evidenciaram baixa correlação (0,529) e, quando utilizadas na confecção de dendrogramas, não possibilitaram a formação de agrupamentos similares. As análises gráficas por componentes principais e variáveis canônicas também apresentaram dispersões distintas. Entretanto, apesar das discrepâncias observadas entre as metodologias analisadas, foi possível a identificação de genótipos dissimilares e com média elevada, que poderão ser utilizados com grande probabilidade de sucesso em hibridações dirigidas em aveia.

Genetic dissimilarity measures are commonly used by plant breeders to identify different genotypes to get desired segregant populations. This study was proposed to establish the relationship between different multivariate techniques to estimate divergence. The experiment was performed during the growing season of 2001, where twelve oat cultivars were tested for seven agronomic traits, using the random blocks experimental design with four replications. Euclidian and Mahalanobis distances showed low correlation (0.529) and when used to build dendrograms did not show similar clustering. The graphic techniques analysis through principal components and canonical variables also showed distinct spreading patterns. However, in spite of the observed discrepancies among the methodology analyzed, it was possible to recognize dissimilar genotypes with high average that can be used with large success probability in selected artificial hybridizations in oats.

Dezoito genótipos de aveia foram testados quanto à dissimilaridade genética, com e sem o controle de moléstias da parte aérea. As variáveis avaliadas foram rendimento de grãos desaristados, peso de mil grãos, peso do hectolitro, estatura de planta e dias da emergência à floração. Foram empregados análises por variáveis canônicas e técnicas de agrupamento por meio dos métodos de otimização de Tocher e o método hierárquico do vizinho mais próximo, tendo como medida de dissimilaridade a distância generalizada de Mahalanobis. Pelos resultados, constatou-se significativa dissimilaridade genética entre os genótipos, indicando a existência de variabilidade para os caracteres avaliados. O método de Tocher e o método do vizinho mais próximo permitiram a separação dos genótipos em grupos distintos, possibilitando a identificação de futuros genitores que possam ser utilizados em cruzamentos artificiais que produzam progênies com maior heterose. Os caracteres que mais contribuíram para a dissimilaridade genética foram o peso do hectolitro e a estatura de planta.

Eighteen oat genotypes were tested for genetic dissimilarity, with and without shoot disease control. The evaluated variables were grain yield, weight of one thousand grains, test weight, plant stature and days from emergence to flowering. Cannonical variables and clustering methods by Tocher's optimization test and the hierarchical method of nearest neighbor were employed, having as a measure of dissimilarity the general distance of Mahalanobis. The results showed a significant genetic dissimilarity among the genotypes, indicating the presence of genetic variability for the evaluated traits. Tocher's and nearest neighbor methods allowed the separation of genotypes in distinct groups, enabling the identification of potential parents for artificial crosses to obtain progenies with higher heterosis. The major traits contributing to genetic dissimilarity in our study were test weight and plant stature.
